US politician Bonnie Watson Coleman initiates a pilot program for guaranteed income payments to promote financial security.

New Pilot Program: Guaranteed Income for 20,000 Americans!
On November 2, 2025, US politician Bonnie Watson Coleman of New Jersey unveiled a groundbreaking guaranteed income pilot program. The proposed Guaranteed Income Pilot Program Act of 2025 aims to test the impact of a federally funded income support program on American families over a three-year period. This program could provide an answer to the challenges posed by increasing technology and automation.
The planned monthly cash payments are to be made available to the selected participants either in the amount of the local rent for a two-room apartment or an amount determined by the Minister of Health. In addition, the regulations stipulate that payments are made no later than the 15th of each month
Target group and structure of the program
A total of 20,000 Americans will be included in the program, 10,000 of whom will remain in a control group. In order to verify the effectiveness of the program, a study by the US Department of Health and Human Services, the Internal Revenue Service and a designated research institution is mandatory. A report on the results of this study is expected to be submitted within two years of the implementation of the pilot program.
A central goal of the project is to explore how the government can prevent Americans from experiencing long-term financial hardship following economic crises. This initiative comes amid worrying statistics that show many Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. Nearly three in five households have no savings for an unexpected $1,000 expense.
The challenge of automation and AI
This pilot program is being tested in light of the growing threat of artificial intelligence and automation, which could reduce the need for human labor. These changes in the world of work make it even more urgent to develop innovative approaches to financially support citizens.
Bonnie Watson Coleman's proposal is consistent with efforts by many cities and states to implement new models of social security. The potential of a guaranteed income could not only improve the quality of life of those affected, but also serve as a model for future social programs.
At a time when securing a living is a daily struggle for many, the Guaranteed Income Pilot Program could represent a significant step toward a more stable financial footing for millions of Americans.
