Unicorndao of the founder of Pussy Riot to create space for women and LGBTQ+ NFT artists

A new DAO challenges the NFT and Web3 landscape dominated by men by financing and empowering women and LGBTQ+artists.

Unicorndao, founded by Pussy Riot founding member Nadya Tolokonnikova, collects NFT artworks (non-fungable token) of such artists and provides them with the platform and the means to continue their creative efforts.

tolokonnikova and his co -founder John Caldwell were inspired to become active in space after witnessing the long snake of the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BayC) and the Mutant Ape Yacht Club "Bros" who were waiting for a yacht party during the NFF.NYC in November 2021.

When asked about other hurdles that could prevent women from working in cryptography, Tolokonnikova admitted that representatives of the entertainment industry "were ashamed as a female queer artist".

"Girls are simply taught from childhood that they shouldn't be technical. So they simply never ended up in places where people introduced crypto early. There are not really many female whales," she said.

Unicorndao was launched during the South by Southwest conference in March 2022, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the co-founder in Moscow because of her leadership during an anti-Putin protest-punk prayer and the subsequent two-year prison sentence.

The DAO community will expand its work by a political arm, Unicornriot, to organize itself politically and to collect donations for activist purposes. Their current focus is on reproductive justice in the USA.

Participation in Unicornriot is free, but potential members of Unicorndao have to apply. Politicians will implement the Ukrainedao business model, another of the recent companies by Tolokonnikova and Caldwell, who have collected over $ 7 million in less than a week to help Ukrainian citizens during the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Caldwell said that Unicorndao was not like other communities because there is “safe, funny, accepting and there is a way to activism and financial freedom”.
