Shibarium launches Plasma Bridge for BONE – security increased after hack!

On October 15, 2025, the Shiba Inu team announced that the Plasma Bridge had been reactivated for the BONE token. This decision follows a comprehensive review of security measures following a major network exploit that resulted in the loss of over $4.1 million in assets. The attack, which took place in September 2025, allowed an attacker to steal 4.6 million BONE tokens, which had a significant impact on the prices of the SHIB, BONE and KNINE tokens. These prices had fallen significantly the following month, increasing concerns about security within the ecosystem.

Shiba Inu developers have now opened the Plasma Bridge with new blacklisting functionality aimed at protecting the network from future threats. Thanks to these security updates, users can once again transfer BONE between Ethereum and Shibarium. The proactive blacklisting function helps to flag and block suspicious addresses in a timely manner. This step ensures that users have a safer experience when transferring BONE.

New security measures and delays

To monitor suspicious activity, the Shiba team has also introduced a 7-day withdrawal delay for all BONE Plasma withdrawals. This measure provides the operating team and security experts with sufficient time to monitor and respond to potential issues if necessary. The Shiba Inu team’s quick response to the September incident helped minimize further losses and preserve the integrity of the network.

The restored Plasma Bridge was only reactivated after a thorough security review, which strengthened the effectiveness of the new protection measures. In the September hack, assets stolen included $1 million in Ether, $1.3 million in SHIB, and over $717,000 in KNINE. This event has once again highlighted the importance of security precautions in the crypto space.

With the reopening of the Plasma Bridge, the Shiba Inu team shows a commitment not only to security, but also to continually improving the user experience within its ecosystem. While the crypto world continues to face challenges, such measures are crucial to building trust among users and creating a sustainable platform.
