Less than 20 days ago, German multinational sneaker and sportswear group Adidas launched the company's Adidas Originals Non-fungible Token (NFT) collection and since then, the NFT compilation has climbed into the top 50 NFT collections in terms of sales.
Adidas NFT Collection sees significant demand in less than 20 days
At the end of November 2021, Adidas revealed it was “excited” about the Metaverse and said the company had partnered with Coinbase and acquired land in The Sandbox. The following week Adidas announced it to the press in partnership with the NFT project Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and the comic series Punks Comic. The company has mid-December started the Adidas Originals NFT compilation with Punks Comic, Gmoney and BAYC.

Since then, the NFT collection has performed well in terms of sales and found its way into the top 50 NFT collections. At the time of writing, the Adidas Originals NFT collection is the 49th largest NFT project as far as sales are concerned. Between 13,801 buyers and 10,732 sellers, the NFT collection produced by Adidas has recorded 18,092 transactions. Adidas Originals has generated 14,781 Ether or $57.6 million in sales since the day of its launch.
Adidas Originals NFT Floor is approaching 1 Ether, sales of the collection are still small potatoes compared to independent NFT compilations
Data from Dune Analytics is a little different, with Adidas Originals NFTs achieving 18,770 sales and a total volume of 15,479 Ether, or almost $60 million. The current minimum price for a single Adidas Originals NFT is 0.704 Ether or $2,729. However, the average sale today is 0.747 ETH or $2,896 and the peak sale on January 4, 2022 is 0.780 Ether or $3,024. Metrics show that there are 17,976 unique Ethereum ( ETH ) Addresses holding an Adidas Originals “Into the Metaverse” (ITM) NFT.
While Adidas is one of the first well-known brands and companies to enter the top 50 NFT collections in terms of sales, a large number of independent NFT projects are seeing much greater demand. Axie Infinity NFTs have hit $3.8 billion in sales, Cryptopunks have hit $1.8 billion, Artblocks have hit $1.1 billion, and BAYC just passed the billion dollar mark with 296,616 Ether or $1,022,099,909 in all-time sales. Adidas Originals ITM sales represent only 5.63% of the total sales recorded by BAYC.
