Ethereum and Columbia: New Blockchain Research Center Launched!
The Ethereum Foundation has launched a new blockchain research center in collaboration with Columbia Engineering. This center, the nameColumbia-Ethereum Research Center for Blockchain Protocol Designis funded with up to $6 million. USD 500,000 is available annually for the first three years to advance development and research in the field of blockchain technology.
The management of the center takes overTim Roughgarden, professor of computer science and expert in blockchain protocols. The center's goal is to promote core blockchain infrastructure and academic research. The Ethereum Foundation has announced that in addition to the funding, it will also provide $1.5 million in philanthropic contributions, which will be used for center operations, competitive research, and postdoctoral fellowships.
