Esther Crawford, Twitter product manager, explained that the tips symbol next to the Follow button is displayed on the profile page when an account has activated tips. "Tap the symbol and see a list of payment services or platforms that activated the account and you can choose what you prefer," she wrote and emphasized:
As soon as you tap the service you want to use, Twitter will be forwarded to the selected app to send money. Twitter does not take a cut.
"In addition to the services currently activated by tips, people can now get a seamless tip with Bitcoin - a payment application based on Bitcoin Lightning Network and enables people to send and receive Bitcoin. Strike offers immediate and free payments," added Crawford.
strike is available in the USA with the exception of Hawaii and New York and in El Salvador, where Bitcoin is now legal in addition to the US dollar. Users in justified markets can register for a strike account and add their strike username to get Bitcoin tips via the Lightning Network. "You can use every Bitcoin Lightning Wallet to send tips to someone's strike account," said the product manager.
"If you activate tips in your profile, you can now also add your Bitcoin address. People can copy their address and insert them into a Bitcoin wallet of your choice to send you a payment directly," she remarked.
In addition to strike, other payment options and platforms are currently Bandcamp, Cash App, Chipper, Gofundme, Patreon, Picpay, Razorpay, Wealthsimple Cash and Venmo from PayPal.
Twitter discover the NFT authentication support
she added: "We are interested in basically only making visually clear that this is an authenticated avatar, and then giving them some interesting information and insights into the origin of this NFT." A Twitter spokesman said:
The NFT authentication takes place in the form of a badge that is displayed on profile images and the owner's NFT marks as authentic.
