Singapurs addx recognizes crypto for accredited investors

- cryptocurrency can be used to consider a person as an accredited investor in Singapore, who is recognized as personal net assets
- An accredited investor must meet one of three criteria above a certain financial threshold to qualify
The capital market platform Addx announced on Wednesday that it is the first financial institution in Singapore to recognize cryptocurrencies for the purpose of onboarding accredited investors.
In an explanation, addx said that it would begin to recognize Bitcoin, Ether and USDC for individuals as part of the status of an "accredited investor" of the city state. According to Singaporian law, investors who strive for approval must meet a certain threshold in order to gain access to certain financial products.
A accredited investor is a person with a special status according to financial regulatory laws with different regulations depending on the country or jurisdiction.
one of three criteria qualifies an investor for such a status in Singapore, including if its income exceeds $ 300,000 in the past 12 months ($ 218,000) or exceeds its net value of financial assets in financial assets ($ 727,000). A third option that the private assets of a person will exceed 2 million SGD ($ 1.45 million) also counts.
cryptocurrency is currently not recognized as an income or financial assets within the city island state, although it is recognized as personal net assets. Addx said adequate risk management measures within the meaning of the law would implement taking into account price volatility.

"Since a large minority of investors has crypto, it is reasonable that these digital assets are recognized as part of their own portfolio," said Oieee Choo, CEO of Addx, in the explanation. "The recognition of crypto stocks helps us to serve a much wider segment of investors."
addx was founded in 2017 and started operations in 2020. Addx has developed into one of the largest private market platforms in Southeast Asia according to total trading volume and offers assets that are not easily available on public exchanges.
By using blockchain technology and intelligent contracts, the platform tokens a wide range of assets, from stocks to bonds to pre-exchanging stock and hedge funds.
choo added that the achievement of an understanding between cryptotot technology and traditional finance had positioned the company before typical offers by enabling it to bridge two worlds.
In March, choo was appointed head of the platform in March, where she was commissioned to lead the bank's investments in Singapore.
"Investors are increasingly expecting a seamless overview of their entire stocks, since their traditional assets and crypto capacity are ultimately part of a single portfolio," she said. "In the coming time, we will probably enable our customers to finance their investment walls with cryptocurrencies and to exchange their assets between Fiat currencies and crypto."
