Magic Eden for the reimbursement of users who were tempted to buy fake NFTS

Magic Eden announced that it will refund all users who have incorrectly bought unified NFTs that have appeared on the collection pages due to a recent violation.

In an explanation, the NFT marketplace based in Solana said that an error was used in an update of two of its functions-Snappy Marketplace and Pro Trade Tools. As a result, NFTS were not listed in these two tools.

Technically speaking, the newly used "activity indexer" could not recognize fraudulent NFTs. Instead, the error enabled this token to escape the review and to be listed in addition to real collections.
  • The development takes place days after some Magic Eden users reported that they saw strange pictures on the platform instead of the NFTS, including pornographic pictures and still pictures from the television series "The Big Bang Theory".
  • On January 4, however, the platform confirmed that its Smart Contract was still secure, and added that the incident was an isolated UI problem.
  • According to the update, the violation caused 25 fraudous NFTs to be sold in four collections last day. The marketplace is now checking whether other NFTs were affected.

"We have found in the last 24 hours that the effects on 25 non -verified NFTs were limited in 4 collections. These non -verified NFTs were displayed on the collection pages, and transactions of non -verified NFTs have been displayed in the collection cards of the collections. The problem has been solved since this morning."

  • fake NFTs were also added to the high-priced and prominent Solana-based collections ABC and Y00TS.
