Artistically a stronger effect - an in -depth discussion about NFTs with the system of a Down’s Serj Tankian interview

last month, the lead singer of System of a Down, Serj Tankian, organized an art exhibition with the non-fungable token (NFT) platform and the marketplace Curio NFT. The physically and virtually merged art show was called "Not for Touching" and this week Tankian told Bitcoin.com News that he believes that NFT technology has opened new doors to its artistic expression.

This week Bitcoin.com chatted with the lead singer of a system of a down (soad), serj tankian , about not fungible token (NFF) technology and how it gave him the opportunity to express his art in a new way. In December, Tankian and curiosity nft organized an art exhibition with the artist's work of the artist with the title "Not for touching".

Tankian has been an artist for years, but NFTs have given the Soad singer a new way to "influence several senses at the same time", and he emphasized that he was always interested in achieving "a stronger artistic effect". The following is a detailed discussion with Serj Tankian from Soad, who recorded Bitcoin.com News on January 5th.

Bitcoin.com News (BCN): You have recently entered the world of NFTs. Can you tell our readers how they discovered the NFT technology?

Serj Tankian: I discovered it when reading the messages. To see how different artists published NFTS. We converted the house and I had a lot of time to read and thought: 'Wow, that's really interesting.' Since I have been dealing with art for a few years, with music connected art, I thought, 'Wow, that could be a new platform for what I do.' So here the connection of the idea came into play.

BCN: You recently organized a art exhibition called "Not for Touching" with Curio NFT. Can you tell our readers of this event and your course?

Serj Tankian: The event went very well, they set up a virtual gallery that was very interesting for me. To go into this gallery and to see my pieces, which of course were NFTs, and to be able to look at them, listen and see details about it. Then go in the other direction and look at another NFT work on another wall. It was really cool, the setup was really nice and it is my first dive into this world as an artist, so to speak.

I have always been interested in influencing several senses at the same time in order to appear artistically stronger. I did that with my music art, which we " eye for sound ." We use an app that carries out optical detection and you go to a physical gallery and can listen to each of the paintings with a smartphone or earphones.

It is like an immersive experience and with NFTs the opportunity to physically bring this painting to life with the help of animation and digital painting. Like my good friend Roger Kupelian, who worked on Lord of the Rings and many many films, his pictures are brought to life with the music in the background. So I am really thrilled because the product has really become incredible.

BCN: Collect other assets from certain NFT collections?

Serj Tankian: I have not yet. To be honest, I am not a great physical art collector, even though I produce physical art. I have some pictures of good friends. Maybe it's because I am a minimalist in a way. I don't like a mess, not even on a hard drive. I have a lot of friends who are collectors and they love to collect art, collect things, NFTS, and I'm just not a collector. I am an artist that I produce.

bcn: Are the other bandmates of the System of the Down like NFTS?

Serj Tankian: I didn't really ask her. I am not sure if one of them bought them. I would doubt it, but maybe Shavo (Soad bassist Shavo Odadjian) because he is very technology-friendly and is against the other boys. So maybe Shavo, but I'm not sure.

Tankian is of the opinion that it is a very interesting topic how people come to an agreement on the noticed value. NFTS or Bitcoin are rated, it is about subjective reviews.

bcn: Why are NFTs in your opinion the “next step” in terms of artistic work?

Serj Tankian: I said this statement is aimed at me. Because it gave me a new platform to add a dimension of experience that I could not have physically added. That would be, so to crawl into the virtual space, that I can move the pictures and let them dance.

Where there are paintings on the wall in the physical space and they do not dance, but the music that is leading into it, which is beautiful. But now I can fill out this room between the wall and the listener with NFTS. I look forward to finding more virtual or physical spaces in order to be able to further interact with several senses in order to increase the potency of the vision of the artist.

bcn: In addition to NFTS, you are interested in other types of blockchain projects, such as crypto-assets like Bitcoin?

Serj Tankian: not really. I don't know. I am a completely naive person when it comes to blockchain, bitcoin and so on. I don't have any for myself [NFT Tech] is a new world of presentation of my art, that is mine in. But I really have no idea about blockchain, but I have friends who bought Bitcoin early and who are very enthusiastic.

BCN: Many people believe that blockchain technology can remove parasitic third parties from various elements of our lives. Would you agree?

Serj Tankian: I think there is definitely the truth. I think it is a subversive technology in a way or maybe it is not subversive, and maybe it is an alternative. They think about the gold standard and how the money used to be based on gold. Then they got off the gold standard because they couldn't find enough gold. They also expanded so that most currencies are based on the integrity of the government of this nation.

With blockchain and Bitcoin you are outside of this system. The whole thing is very interesting for me, NFTS enclosed because it is very interesting that the human character agrees to evaluate things in a certain way.

BCN: Plan further NFT exhibitions with your works of art?

Serj Tankian: I do. But I want to find the next level. I would like to make a physical gallery or museum exhibition where these physically isolated rooms are available for each of my paintings and they create even more of this virtual encounter with the physical world. Where you can interact with the diverse dimensions of art, including painting, definitely bring the music that surrounds them, perhaps some touch and odor elements, lighting and the virtual world. Perhaps the NFTs could be projected into the actual space, I start thinking of several dimensions and increasing the potency of the artistic effect.
