The company Base founded by Coinbase is preparing for a Mainset start, while the Ethereum Layer 2-Ecosystem heats up. The Path-to-Base-Minnet contains a number of certain goals that need to be achieved. The official schedule for the start of the Mainset has not yet been announced, but the upcoming DOMATION UPGRATE from Optimism remains a decisive factor.

Basic mainnet

The base test network, which is based on an Optimism roll-up-tag-Superchain, has been running since February of this year and focused on aspects such as testing the surgical stack and the base infrastructure to increase platform safety and the utilization of the infrastructure to ensure that it can support scaling.

While Base is currently incubated by Coinbase, the final goal is to be completely decentralized. Mainnet Genesis is the first step to achieve the same, according to the latest blog post. base now expects a successful upgrade from Optimism’s Bedrock. For the future, the Layer-2 platform said that it would work to complete its protocol tests without critical problems and maintain the stability of the test network.

The main objective of the upgrade is to significantly reduce the transaction fees, improve network security and to improve the compatibility with Ethereum and thus to reduce a new era of efficiency and functionality for the optimism network, since it is exposed to strong competition by other layer-2 networks.
