Cardano (ADA) awaits Mithril's beta release in summer: simplification of the node operation for a decentralized blockchain

Cardano (ADA) plans to unlock a beta version of the Update Mithril in the Mainnet in summer. This update will make it easier for users to operate nodes on the Cardano network.

Development work at Cardano (ADA) continues. The Update Mithril is currently in the last test phase before it is published as a beta version for the Mainset. Mithril is an allusion to the fantasy world of J.R.R. Tolkien, especially on the metal Mithril, which is light but still hard. In the context of Cardano, Mithril focuses on the topic of nodes.

Specifically, Mithril should simplify the setup of nodes. Transactions of several nodes are checked on the Cardano blockchain and only then released. The more nodes participate in the network, the more decentralized the system becomes. Mithril should both decentralize the blockchain of Cardano and facilitate participation as a node on a home computer. Users no longer have to choose between a light node and a full node. A full node stores the entire transaction history of Cardano, while a light node relies on the documentation of other nodes. Mithril at Cardano will combine these two options and ensure that a light node can automatically access secure results.

Mithril is particularly aimed at external developers who program Cardano Dapps for smartphones. With Mithril you can integrate a light node whose functions are similar to a full node. Mithril will also serve as a preparation for the large update CIP-1694, which is to initiate the Voltaire era at ADA and thus enable self-government at Cardano.
