BNB Chain has announced that it will be working with on-chain investigator ZachXBT to combat exploits and criminal activity within its ecosystem. This collaboration was officially announced on November 5, 2025. Known for his extensive research into crypto crimes, ZachXBT aims to help track illegal activities and increase transparency in the BNB ecosystem.
The decision to include ZachXBT follows a series of exploits that have hit the BNB ecosystem in recent months. ZachXBT plans to release the results of an investigation into a specific exploit in the near future, but is holding back on details. The BNB Chain is under pressure as it continually faces security challenges.
Current security challenges
The security issues of the BNB ecosystem have been compounded by several recent incidents. On October 1, 2025, a major incident occurred where an attacker stole $13,000 from multiple users by taking over their X accounts. BNB Chain acted immediately and compensated all affected users, reinforcing the focus on the need for security measures.
A previous incident took place on September 18, 2025, when BNB Chain's New Gold Protocol was hacked, resulting in the theft of $2 million. Weaknesses in the smart contract were the cause of this exploit. These incidents are part of a larger problem, as the BNB ecosystem experienced one of the largest exploits ever last year. In 2022, a total of $570 million in BNB was stolen through an attack on the BSC Token Hub cross-chain bridge.
