The crypto-intelligence platform Messari said on Thursday that she was the first winner of a $ 12.5 million-core development scholarship from The Graph Foundation for further data standards in web3.

Messari will continue to work on improving these standards by providing resources for the development of subgraphs, of which 20 have already completed it, the company said in an explanation.

The Graph is a protocol for creating decentralized applications on Ethereum as well as for indexing and querying data from various blockchains. It is viewed by some as a critical level of web3 development and supports 34 different networks, including Ethereum, Near, Arbitrum and Polygon.

his foundation is meanwhile commissioned to manage the protocol's ecosystem and at the same time to look after developers and community members.

A subgraph defines which data the graph of Ethereum is indexed and how the data is stored, in accordance with A blog entry . The problem, according to The Graph, is that data points have to be collected via several logs and are often confronted with a lack of standardization, which turns out to be cumbersome and inefficient

Two protocols that have many similarities, e.g. B. Aave and Compound can have significantly different application programming interfaces. The Graph Protocol enables developers to boot so-called subgraphs into the smart contracts of their existing project to quickly query blockchain data.

Messari said that the grant will help to further advance open source data standards and the development of "high-quality" subgraphs within the graph ecosystem.

"We are proud to have received the very first Core subgraph development of scholarship from the Graph Foundation," said Ryan Selkis, CEO of Messari.

"We share the conviction of the Graph Community that structured on-chain data should be accessible to everyone, not just for the consumers of corporate data."

Messari also said that it is planning to create another 200 subgraphs for web3 protocols, and has started to create standards and defi work groups to replace best practice with other defi applications.
