SBF complains about late coverage that is supposed to harm his defense
In contrast to other FTX managers who are guilty of leading FTX and in return, in return for a milder punishment, Sam Bankman-Fried continued to stick to his innocence.
However, since the date on which his case is put in court is getting closer, his lawyer team continues to look for opportunities to reduce the burden as soon as October is over.
argue about technical details
Last month, the SBF's legal team tried to drop a number of charges, on the grounds that they had not yet been submitted at the time when he agreed to the United States.
The court replied, however, that most of the charges had already been raised before delivery and that only the (fleeting) approval of the Bahama authorities was necessary for the other charges in order to also be collected.
Since this special way to mitigate possible prison terms, the lawyers from SBF seem to have been transferred to a different approach: they argue about which evidence in court is permitted.
The discovery process takes too long
According to a letter that the legal department of SBF submitted in the name of the accused, the investigative process - a legal term that refers to the period in which legal evidence is presented and the defense is informed about this evidence - takes far too long, which causes fears that this could hinder the efforts of defense.
Although SBF allegedly does not want to postpone the negotiation date, his attendant team said that this was possible if no other measures were taken.
"Since the negotiation date is only less than four months away, the defense fears that the late submission of such a extensive and important discovery will have an impact on the preparation of the defense. Mr. Bankman-Fried does not want to postpone the negotiation date. We are raising these questions to draw the court aware that Mr. Banksman-Fried could try to leave the court in order to submit further requests [...] Court to prevent the government from using evidence that were presented too shortly before the hearing. ”
The evidence currently available is reported to a whopping 3.6 million documents and more than 10 million pages. The public prosecutor is currently investigating the content of Gary Wang's laptop and the information that is distributed over 30 different Google accounts that are connected to the FTX management.
