Government officer says Zimbabwe is currently collecting views on cryptocurrencies - emerging countries

A civil servant of the Zimbabwischen government recently confirmed that the state of the country is currently obtaining opinions on cryptocurrencies of expert persons.

The persistent concerns of the government

Charles Wekwete, the head of the e-government unit, suggested that the country will only take a formal position on cryptocurrencies after the consultation process has been completed.

according to a Sunday news test report -who turned to delegated, which took part in Victoria Falls- Comments, while answering the participants' request. The participants had asked Wekwete whether the position of the Zimbabwischen government had changed to cryptocurrencies.

In his answer, Wekwete first repeats the persistent concerns of his government in terms of cryptocurrencies and their fears that they could be used to facilitate shameful activities. However, Wekwete also announced that the Zimbabwische government is already working on finding the suitable regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies. The report quotes Wekwete, which explains how this process works:

Therefore, the government has set up a mechanism to try to catch up with opinions from different areas of society in order to finally formulate political measures. There were explanations from the finance minister and the Simbabwe's reserve Bank and it is such a complex area. Sooner or later the government will submit explanations, but we are not yet ready, the consultation process is already underway.

government open for ideas from actors in the private sector

In addition to the ongoing consultation process, Wekwete suggested that his government is still open to ideas from private actors who are currently not involved in this process.

In the meantime, the report also quotes Allan Sarucher, the President of the Computer Society of Zimbabwe and one of the participants who expresses the willingness of his organization to help the government. Saruchera suggested that knowledgeable people from the IT sector felt responsibility to "share and show what can be done".
