crypto fraudsters stood out at the weekend and hijacked an official YouTube channel of the South Korean government next to the Twitter account of the accounting giant PWC to promote fraud.

South Korea's YouTube channel was confiscated on Saturday and renamed “SpaceX Invest”. Hacker then broadcast a crypto-related video, followed by an interview with Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, YONHAP-NUNSCHAFT reported.

At around the same time, the Venezolan branch of the PWC Twitter account tweeted more than a dozen links to a classic crypto-giveaway fraud.

The links led to a fake Ripple Labs website that encouraged users to send Ripple (XRP) to a specific address, whereupon they were promised more in return. The account wrote: "Would you like to see how #xrp will make you rich?" and "#xrp gogogo", among other slogans.

It took at least eight hours for the PwC Venezuela Twitter account, while South Korea's YouTube channel was restored after about four hours. According to reports, Google Korea and the Department of Cybercrime from Seoul are investigating the incident.

The hack is the third incident against South Korea's official YouTube channels within a week, with one of the Korea Tourism organization being carried out illegally last Thursday and Friday.
