CEO Jesse Powell will no longer lead the company he founded in 2011. Dave Ripley, Chief Operating Officer for six years, will follow Powell as soon as the search for its own successor has been completed as a COO.

Powell remains in the company and becomes chairman of the Board of Directors. He is currently Kraken's largest shareholder.

In a statement,

POWELL said that his resignation as CEO would enable him to use more time for the products, the user experience and the advocacy representation of the industry.

In a press release,

ripley said that his vision "together with the rest of the management team corresponds to that of Jesse - to accelerate the introduction of cryptocurrencies".

Kraken has over 3,000 employees and recently replaced other top executives.

The company hired Carrie Dolan as Chief Financial Officer in March and appointed Mayur Gupta to his Chief Marketing Officer in April.

Kraken is the fourth largest crypto exchange in terms of the spot trade volume, according to Coinmarketcap.
