India's finance minister has confirmed that it is not illegal to buy or sell crypto-assets in India. With regard to the regulation of cryptocurrencies, "the government's approach is to advise and also check what is happening internationally," he said.

The Indian finance minister announced during her budget speech on Tuesday that revenue with cryptocurrencies will be achieved 30% taxed , the highest tax class in the country. She noted that “no deduction in relation to expenses or allowances is permitted when calculating such income, with the exception of the acquisition costs.”

Somanathan emphasized in relation to cryptor regulation: "We will not rush the cryptor regulation, but we will make sure that all income generated is taxable."
