Jurors in Billion Dollar Bitcoin Trial Deadlocked for Days – Jury Could Lead to Mistrial –

Jurors in Kleiman v. Wright are currently unable to decide the high-profile billion-dollar Bitcoin lawsuit in Florida. While the judge has told jurors to take their time deliberating the case, jurors issued a statement Wednesday saying they could not "come to a conclusion."

Kleiman v. Wright Jurors Can't Make Decision - Judge Charges Extending Deliberation Time

After the Thanksgiving holiday in the USA, the jurors of the Case Kleman v. Wright have been thinking about their decision for a long time. Some believe the jury may be deadlocked and the case could result in a mistrial. Law360 court reporter Carolina Bolada tweeted on December 2, 2021 that everyone in the courthouse is simply waiting for the decision.

“I have had a few requests for updates on Kleiman v. Wright,” Bolada tweeted on Thursday. "Believe me, if there was news I would have tweeted it. We're all just waiting for word from the jury." The previous day on Wednesday afternoon, Bolada stated that the jury had made a statement saying:

Unfortunately, we cannot come to a conclusion and we cannot all agree on a verdict on any of the issues.

“No jury yet, but that doesn’t look good for a verdict,” Bolada continued detailed after sharing the statement from the jury's note. “The parties and the court are debating whether to present the jury with an indictment against Allen,” she added.

Judge Beth Bloom has landed output an Allen charge and called: “I suggest that you now carefully review and consider all the evidence in the light of the court’s legal instructions.”

Extended reflection time

If the jury cannot reach a verdict, the judge may declare a mistrial and a new trial must be held with a new set of jurors. The verdict if the plaintiffs win is massive in terms of monetary value, as estimates suggest it could be anywhere in between $70 billion to “near a Trillion Dollar Verdict. ”

In indicting Allen, the trial jury has extended the deliberation time, and if the group cannot reach a decision, it will end up with a vacated jury and Judge Beth Bloom will have to decide again whether to continue deliberating. Traditionally, the urge to think further is usually not chosen more than twice. At the end of the day on Thursday, Carolina Bolada . from Law360 wrote:

No judgment. The jury has asked to come back tomorrow. I'm so ready for this to be over.
