dfinity Foundation starts Deai program worth $ 5 million
The DFINITY Foundation, a non-profit organization, recently launched a new subsidy program called "Deai" worth $ 5 million. The aim of this program is to accelerate the development of applications for artificial intelligence (AI) in the area of blockchain and smart contracts. The DEAI program will finance projects that focus on decentralized artificial intelligence.
The grants are assigned in the form of Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) tokens. The award is awarded in different steps of $ 5,000, $ 25,000, $ 50,000 and $ 100,000. The larger grant of $ 100,000 is available to established teams or developers who have already made progress in the context of a smaller grant.
Dominic Williams, the founder and chief scientist of the DFINITY Foundation, said in an interview with Decrypt that they are looking for people who can effectively use the AI counting units of the Internet Computer. These AI counting units are of crucial importance for the use of the performance of artificial intelligence within the Internet computer blockchain.
The Internet computer blockchain serves as a self-managed cloud platform, which enables the complete decentralization of AI models. This means that AI applications can only run on the blockchain without relying on centralized cloud providers such as Amazon Web Services. Already existing projects that have integrated AI into the Internet computer blockchain are, for example, Dmail, a decentralized email service, and ITOKA, a platform for creating AI-based music.
The DFINITY Foundation has previously organized the Buidl Bitcoin hackathon, in which over 200 developers worked on decentralized applications to facilitate Bitcoin transactions on the Internet computer blockchain. Despite the current trend of integrating artificial intelligence into web3 projects, Dominic Williams emphasizes how important it is to go beyond superficial integration and to focus on a sensible fusion of AI and blockchain technology.
Williams believes that the use of the Internet computer blockchain for training AI models brings various advantages. This includes operation in a transparent and public network, ensuring a secure and verifiable AI execution and the generation of trustworthy results. The foundation emphasizes the importance of these advantages, especially in critical areas such as medical AI applications in which manipulation of models or reactions could have serious consequences. With the DEAI promotion program, which coordinates blockchain and AI technologies, the DFINITY Foundation would like to promote innovation projects and open up the full potential of decentralized artificial intelligence in the blockchain ecosystem.
