Do Kwon in Montenegro sentenced to four months in prison
The co-founder of the failed terraform project was sentenced to four months in prison in a Montenegrin prison, including his detention period.
Remember that Kwon was caught at a local airport when trying to flee from the country with a fake Costarican passport.
- The basic court in Podgorica announced on June 19 that Do Kwon was found guilty of wearing a fake passport and was sentenced to a prison sentence of four months. However, this also includes the time he spent from March 23 to June 15th. Thus his actual detention period should be about a month.
- The former CFO of Terraform-Han Chang-Joon-received the same judgment, although Kwon claimed that Chang-Joon was innocent and only he should enforce the judgment. Both were caught at an airport in March when they tried to leave the country with fake passes.
- If the two former Terraform managers do not agree with the judgment, they have the right to appeal within eight days after receiving the copy of the judgment.
- After the loud collapse of the Terra ecosystem last year, Kwon disappeared and withdrawn from the authorities for several months, although he claimed that he was open to talking about the events.
- However, nothing happened, he received an Interpol Red Notice, but was able to flee for months before it was finally arrested in the European country.
- At the beginning of this week he said that he did not know that the Costa-Rican passport with which he traveled was fake. However, Kwon also had a Belgian specimen that contained a different name and a different date of birth.
- Despite the condemnation now made by the basic court in Podgorica, the question remains whether the country's authorities will decide to deport Kwon to South Korea or the USA in order to be responsible in one of the two countries.
