Fresh from a financing round, the Swedish crypto index provider Vinter has concluded a contract with a derivate exchange for digital assets to provide prices for its investment products.

The Vinter Single Asset Indices are intended to serve as a reference interest rate for the derivatives of D2X and enable institutional investors to "clean", Jacob Lindberg, CEO of Vinter, told Blockworks.

"The volumes in crypto derivatives continue to exceed the spot volume, and there are no signs that this growth slows down. [So] It is the perfect time for a partnership like this," wrote Lindberg in an email. "In addition, the partnership with Vinter means that D2X will use crypto indices that are already well established and who are familiar in European cryptography [Exchange-Traded Product] Industry."

vinter-founded in what the company calls the "crypto winter" 2019-offers indices that pursue the price of assets such as Bitcoin, Ether, Cardano, Polkadot and Binance Coinuniswap, Xinfin and Tezos.

The company has also introduced indices with several assets that are grouped according to market capitalization or topics, including coins or tokens for decentralized finances (Defi) that are issued by centralized stock exchanges.

d2x said the Vinter deal would support the goals of the stock exchange to develop a safe, regulated market infrastructure for derivatives in Europe.

The company based in Amsterdam offers options and futures on digital assets with cash compensation.

future growth

In January,

Vinter gained $ 3.4 million to expand its range of cryptoasset indices for ETP and ETF issuers. Octopus Ventures led the seed round.

The financial injection is intended for the setting of data experts to analyze risks and trends as well as for the familiarization of developers and technical engineers.

ZIAO XU, Head of FinTech at Octopus Ventures, told Blockworks that Krypto was due to a relocation to passive products, "since the demand for regulated commitment in cryptoassets"-from benchmark trackers to smart beta strategies.

"The ability to create flexible products on a large scale depends on a robust index provider, and we believe that Vinter is well positioned to play this role," said Xu.

vinter strives to introduce customer -specific niche indices for certain sectors, said Lindberg, including those who are “suitable for investors who are interested in crypto, but are worried about the energy consumption of certain tokens”.

European crypto ETFs are hot

In the past few months,

Vinter has been in the middle of the distribution of crypto ETPs (stock exchange products) in Europe. Product launches have been made on the entire continent, since the Securities and Exchange Commission has not yet approved ETFs that keep crypto directly.

The security and convenience of crypto engagements by a regulated product is attractive for private investors and often a need for institutional actors, emitters told block works.

Vinter is the index provider for Valour, Bytree Asset Management, Wavebridge and 21shares. The latter company, the world's largest issuer of crypto ETPS, entered into a partnership with Vinter in September.

It has introduced an ETP that depicts the Vinter 21shares Crypto Mid-Cap Index that excludes Bitcoin and Ethereum. 21Shares intends to offer access to the top-50 cryptocurrencies in ETP wrapper in the company.

"Many start their journey into cryptography with the purchase of BTC and ETH about financial packaging such as ETPs," said Lindberg to block works at the time. "As soon as you find out more, there is a natural step in deeper immersion, and if you find that many of you have surpassed BTC and ETH last year, of course you will be curious."
