BayC Discord compromised, NFTS worth 200 ETH stolen

- A malignant player made it possible to compromise the BayC discord server with Bored Ape NFTS worth $ 359,000
- It is the third time in two months that the NFTs were compromised by BayC, which raises questions about the security of the project
A malignant player made a loss with BORED APE NFTS worth 200 ether ($ 359,000) after the Discord server belonging to the project was compromised on Saturday.
The parent company of the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BayC), Yuga Labs, confirmed the amount in a Twitter about 11 hours after the attack. According to the on-chain analyst and Twitter user @nftherder, the attacker was able to break through the safety of BayC's project manager Boris Vagner.
"Our Discord servers were used for a short time today. The team quickly recognized and remedied it. NFTS worth around 200 ETH seem to be affected. We are still investigating," tweeted Yuga Labs about his BayC Twitter trade.
After the successful injury, the actor was then able to post a phishing fraud that spent the vagner and led collectors of Bored Ape to click on a malignant link and send their NFTs to the address of the attacker.
Vagner was promoted to social and community manager in February Twitter where he praised the founders of Bored Apes and Yuga Labs.
In social media, questions have arisen how the Discord account was compromised, including a lack of proper implementation of greater security. Despite the proper implementation of the two-factor authentication, attackers can handle safety by receiving Discord from a targeted victim.
an explanation for the method behind the attack was that Vagner's Discord-ID-token-with which you register several times without verify your own identity-was also compromised. This could have made it possible for the actor to gain access to Vagner's account.
It is the third time that BayC was chopped, including an incident on April 1, when a Mutant Ape Yacht Club NFT was stolen on a phishing link on Discord. Almost four weeks later, on April 25th, the Discord and Instagram accounts of BayC were chopped when a fake link to a imitator website tempted users to give up their NFTs worth several million dollars.
hundreds of angry users have used Twitter to take a breath of their frustration about the repeated attacks and the alleged lack of security.
It is super easy not to hack a discord. Especially for projects with billions of sales. To be honest, it's embarrassing. - Onkeltravelingmatt.eth (@unctravelinmatt) 4. June 2022
"You [BayC] should consider investing a full-time security manager," Nftherder tweeted in response to the comment of a user for the safety of BayC. "Surprised that you haven't done it yet."
