Ripple celebrates $500 million investment – market value exceeds $40 billion!
Ripple today announced a $500 million strategic investment led by Fortress Investment Group and Citadel Securities. This investment values the company at $40 billion. The financial support comes at a time when Ripple has seen significant growth after completing six acquisitions in the last two years, expanding its services from payments to areas such as custody, stablecoins and prime brokerage.
This extensive expansion is also evident in the success of Riplle’s RLUSD stablecoin, which has reached a market cap of over $1 billion less than a year after its launch. The RLUSD is used as collateral within Ripple Prime, the company's institutional prime brokerage.
Growth through acquisitions and innovation
Ripple’s recent $1 billion bond raise indicates strong institutional demand for its operations. Ripple has evolved its operations from a single application in 2012 to a multifunctional company. Among the most significant acquisitions is that of Rail, a stablecoin infrastructure company, which transformed Riplle Payments into a comprehensive cross-border payments platform. The October acquisition of GTreasury, an enterprise cash and liquidity management company, has also boosted adoption of RLUSD among Fortune 500 companies.
With 75 regulatory licenses obtained worldwide, Ripple is now able to legally operate in various jurisdictions, optimally positioning the company for future growth.
Support from major investors
The investment was backed by a syndicate including Pantera Capital and Galaxy Digital. This support from well-known investors demonstrates the confidence in Riplle’s business model and the company’s future development. With continued expansion and milestones achieved, Ripple will continue to be a significant player in the digital financial sector.
