Matt Wolf was introduced to the world of NFTS for the first time as a consultant for the gaming startup Epics Digital Collectables.

During his time at one of the first NFT collection map platforms (not fungible tokens) Wolf said that he was "fascinated by the possession of in-game assets".

Wolf, who started investing in cryptocurrencies in 2014, said it was "easy to recognize the value" of blockchain games. "If you are working in the game business and do not seriously deal with blockchain integration, you may miss a great chance," he said to block works.

According to data providers, the industry generated more than $ 4 billion dappradar .

Wolf previously worked as a head of gaming at The Coca-Cola Company, together with stations in consulting bodies for gaming ventures such as Riot Games, Alpha Draft and Proguides.

Last year he came to Zynga as Vice President of Blockchain Gaming-the gaming giant behind Words with Friends and Farmville. The publisher, Wolf announced on February 9, will start this year in NFT games.

Morgan Chittum from Blockworks spoke to Wolf about the upcoming blockchain gaming studio from Zynga, the inspiration behind the offer and his first impression of NFTS.

chittum: You recently said that Zynga will publish an NFT-based game within the next year, but the company will found a separate studio for this. What was behind the decision to found a completely different business area?

Wolfe: We don't want our players to be confused with the games they already love, the Zynga produces, and with our blockchain offer. We want to create a separation there. It is a separate department, but still within Zynga. We actively recruit for this department and for high -ranking employees who can help us build up this community.

chittum: can you predict how much capital Zynga will assign to this new company?

wolf: I can't really predict that. I can only say that we are very convinced of it.

We are very interested in the fact that this is a possible evolutionary step for games. If you are as enthusiastic about a company like Zynga, there is usually a lot of support.

chittum: If you say that this is an "evolutionary step", what do you signal to other gaming companies and publishers? Do you think you will follow this example and also integrate blockchain technology?

wolf: Some already do this. Others may watch and look for their opportunity to get in. I think the time will show it. I personally think that this is an amazing new step or possibly a different direction to enjoy interactive entertainment.

Chittum: How can you think play-to-ear-projects make that players continue to take part in games without moneying the only interest of the players?

wolf: We have to understand who these players are, what they think is fun and then do our best to deliver it. I think part of it is a permanent economy to invent fun and explore various game mechanics. We have to summarize all of this under the roof of a blockchain game in order to really inspire these people and make them satisfied in these games.

chittum: When did you hear the word nft for the first time? Where were you? What went through your head?

wolf: I started investing in crypto in 2014, and I also advised companies in the course of my career. One of these companies was an NFT card trading game called Epics Digital Collectables. It is one of the oldest game-like NFT platforms, so I came into contact with it and was fascinated by it [Gaming Finance] and possession of assets within these games.

For me, blockchain integration was always useful, but I've been in gaming for a long time. I also really believe in a decentralized financing. I think it's an interesting further development of interactive entertainment.

chittum: I know that Zynga has not announced any details about the upcoming games, but could you explain what they will look like? Could you be comparable to something like Axie Infinity or Decentraland?

Wolf: We are still too early, right? We try to find out exactly how we want to move. We have a clearer idea of what inspires us in our own portfolio because we have achieved many successes over time. There are certain types of games that we believe that they are inspired in terms of intellectual property by Mafia Wars.

Chittum: There were reports from employees at Ubisoft who quit the opportunity to have NFTs in the game last year. Do you think that the separation between the two at Zynga is partly due to this alleged voltage between traditional gaming and the play-to-near area?

wolf: at Zynga no such conflict is brewing. It's more about focus. We have an amazing product portfolio that deserves a lot of talent and the chance to develop it further. I think on the side of the blockchain games we are planning to build a department that will concentrate exclusively on it.
