Walmart reacts to fake messages about his partnership with Litecoin

The retail giant published a press release in response to the fake news his partnership with Litecoin Monday. "Walmart was the subject of a fake press release, which was published on Monday, September 13, in which Walmart had announced that Walmart had announced a partnership with Litecoin ( ltc ) ", wrote the company and added:

Walmart had no knowledge of the press release from Globenewswire, and it is wrong. Walmart has no relationship with Litecoin.

Walmart spokesman Randy Hargrenb told CNBC that the retailer had come into contact with the news agency to examine how the wrong press release was published.

Globenewswire removed the fake press release on the late Monday and published a “notification of non -observance” about his service. The company also said that it has introduced improved authentication steps to prevent a similar incident from appearing in the future.

The sales company for press releases explained:

We will work with the responsible authorities to apply for a complete examination, including all criminal activities related to this matter.

Many large news agencies brought the fake history, including Reuters and CNBC. This led to an immediate increase in the Litecoin Prize ( ltc ). However, the profits were quickly nullified when Walmart contested the message.

In the meantime, the Litecoin Foundation, a non -profit organization that promotes cryptocurrency, has given an explanation on this topic. The foundation is headed by Litecoin inventor Charlie Lee, who functions as managing director.

"We have no information about where this idea or publication comes from the press," wrote the foundation and confirmed that it "has no partnership with Walmart". It also found that the quotes in the press release did not come from Lee.

Lee announced Reuters in an email that the joke would be examined but had little progress. The Litecoin creator added that he currently only has five ltc and had little incentive itself, the fake itself to publish.

He also commented on the verified Twitter trade from Litecoin (@litecoin), who shared the fake announcement. The tweet was deleted a few hours after Walmart had denied the message. Lee gave:

It was our mistake to return with @litecoin. We will ensure that our social media accounts are controlled more strictly so that something like this does not happen again.
