Spotify carries out a pilot project for token-capable playlists with NFT partners
Spotify tests a new service with one of his partners-"token-enabled playlists"-to enable owners of non-fungal token (NFT), connect their wallets and access curated music. It is currently in the pilot phase.
The new service was developed in cooperation with the web3 gaming ecosystem overlord and includes a token-capable play list curated by the community, which can be accessed on Spotify via Web3 walls.
- according to the official Announcement only for Android users from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia and New Zealand.
- Apart from overlord, the product token is available in the Communities Fluf, Moonbirds and Kingship.
- nft-Band Kingship of the Universal Music Group Create one Token-gated playlist for NFT owners with Queen, Missy Eliott, Snoop Dogg and Led Zeppelin. His tweet was:
"We are concerned with opening up real added value for our community, expanding the boundaries of music and blockchain and having our owners at the top of this area."
- The test period comprises three months in which the curated playlists are actively updated and are only accessible to community members with the help of a clear link.
- Spotify ended 2022 despite increasing quarterly losses with a better than expected user growth.
- The result report showed that it rose by 18 % in the fourth quarter of the year and won 489 million active users per month.
- This is not Spotify's first attempt with the NFT sector. In fact, the platform previously carried out a test to help a small group of artists such as Steve Aoki and The Wombats to advertise their existing NFT offers from third-party providers about their artists' profiles.
