Patreon consider to allow creators to use crypto for monetization -
Patreon, the member platform, thinks about the idea of leaving Creator on your platform to have her own creative coins out. The explanation that represented a revelation was given by Patreon CEO and co -founder Jack Conte and Chief Product Officer Julian Gutman during the Creator Economy Summit 2021 by The Information. This is in line with a report presented last September in which the use of crypto was rated as part of the platform.
Patreon flirts with crypto
Patreon, the well-known member organization, is now Thinking Idea to introduce crypto elements to open up new sources of income, according to CEO Jack Conte and Chief Product Officer Julian Gutman. During the Creator Economy Summit 2021 of The Information, both guidelines admitted that the idea of introducing a membership token for content manufacturers lies on the table.
While Patreon has expressly banned the introduction of coins as a form of investment in its platform, this increase in crypto together with other circumstances with which the platform is confronted could make them change these rules in the near future. Gutman said:
I think we are certainly interested in evaluating and understanding how NFTS or some of the underlying technologies help us achieve sustainable long -term income for YouTuber.
Conte also praised that the crypto worked because of its permissible and direct properties. This enables creators to own their products and the data of their followers without having to rely on a platform that functions as a middleman, which is strange. "I think a large part of this technology aims at this, and I think that's really exciting," he emphasized.
crypto as an alternative
In the past,Patreon had problems with some content manufacturers, which caused them to consider crypto-based services as an alternative. In December 2018, Patreon de-platformed a few creator, including "Sargon of ALIA" Carl Benjamin, causing him to remain without the income of the subscribers who followed him.
This prompted Jordan Peterson, another influencer in Patreon's service, to close his Account and start a new alternative service with more relaxed rules in terms of the moderation of content. However, the inclusion of crypto in a regular membership service has already been tried, but without great success.
Ironically, Patreon could be the platform to implement Krypto in response to the new MasterCard guidelines for adults. The platform indicated this in its latest political commitment , where it explained:A possibility that Youtuber has expressed interest is the development of a YouTuber coin or social token that could be included as a member advantage.
