Iconic Staples Center, home of the Los Angeles Lakers, name change in Crypto.com Arena - News

Staples Center, one of the best known and worldwide most recognized sports and entertainment arenas in the world, changes its name in Crypto.com Arena. Crypto.com has also become an official cryptocurrency platform partner of Los Angeles Lakers and La Kings.

AEG, the owner of the Staples Center, and Crypto.com "have completed a historic, 20-year name law agreement that will rename the AEG own and operated Staples Center", both companies announced independently on Tuesday.

The award-winning arena with 20,000 seats in the city center of Los Angeles described itself as "one of the most cult and worldwide most recognized sports and entertainment arenas in the world". It serves as the official home of the teams of the National Basketball Association (NBA) Los Angeles Lakers and La Clippers as well as the team of the National Hockey League (NHL) La Kings and the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) Los Angeles Spark.

crypto.com has reportedly agreed to pay more than $ 700 million for the name rights. The announcement states that the name change will be effective on December 25th and adds:

"Every year the world-class event location houses over 240 top-class major events of national and international rank and over 4 million guests," the statement continues. The events range from professional sports, concerts, family and award ceremonies to special events, including the Grammy Awards, NBA All-Star Games and NHL All-Star Games.
