Revolution in Web3: Gate Layer starts with a new GT token!

On October 5, 2025, Gate announced the introduction of his new Layer 2 network, Gate Layer. This powerful network, which is based on the OP Stack, aims to optimize the interactions in the defi, NFT and Meme token area and also enables cross-chain transfers. The official announcement took place on September 25th and comprises a new tokenomics model for the Gatetoken (GT), which is based on dual deflationary mechanisms, as [crypto.news] (https://crypto.news/gate-layer-2-network-launches-gt-toMics 2025/).

With this step, Gate wants to go beyond the traditional exchange service and create a comprehensive web3 ecosystem. Due to the complete compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine and the protection by Gatechain, developers can easily migrate existing applications. The users also have the option of using familiar tools like Metamask.

Efficiency and cost advantages

The Gate Layer Network can process impressive 5,700 transactions per second, with the block times only 1 second. The costs for the processing of 1 million transfers amount to less than $ 30. For comparison: on the Base platform, the costs are around $ 700 and even over $ 1,000 on Solana. This cost efficiency is a decisive advantage for users who value affordable transactions.

Another important feature of the Gate Layer is cross-chain interoperability, enabled by integration with LayerZero. This allows direct transfer of assets between Ethereum, Polygon, BNB Chain and Solana. The GT token acts as an exclusive gas token for transactions, smart contract deployments and NFT minting.

Deflationary mechanisms

The GT token is subject to a well thought-out dual deflationary model. This includes quarterly burns and automatic on-chain burning of transaction fees in accordance with the EIP-1559 model. So far, over 180 million GT, which is more than 60% of the original offer, have been permanently removed.

Additionally, the GateChain has been updated to consensus version v1.20, which includes support for blob transactions through EIP-4844 and provides several efficiency improvements. These technologies are part of Gate's "All in Web3" strategy, which aims to provide products for a variety of user activities.

With these developments, Gate creates an inexpensive, powerful environment that introduces decentralized applications closer to the user experience of centralized platforms and at the same time promotes accessibility. Gate Layer could thus represent an important step towards the further development of the web3 sector by offering improved options for both developers and users.
