High institutional Bitcoin stock and a positive mood: new numbers reveal impressive one-year all-time high
Institutional investors have had most of the Bitcoin stocks in circulation for over a year. According to a report recently published by ARK invested, this proportion is about 70% of the 19 million bitcoins.
This number represents a one-year all-time high in terms of the relative and absolute proportion of the bitcoins.
During the crypto winter in 2022, institutional investors kept around 70% of the total Bitcoin offer. In addition, almost 8,000 bitcoins are currently in circulation on non -exchanging stock exchanges (OTC), which corresponds to an increase of 60% in this quarter. ARK Invest uses these OTC numbers as an indicator of institutional investment activities.
The increased credit on the OTC-DESKs indicate that institutions and other large capital allocators are increasingly investing in Bitcoin. This shows a positive development in institutional and large investors.
The report also examines the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC), one of the largest BTC loyalty companies for large investors. It is pointed out that GBTC's discount rose to the net inventory value in June 2023 to 30%. This means that the GBTC share price is 30% lower than the price of the underlying, namely Bitcoin.
The decline in the discount on the net inventory value is attributed to Blackrock's request from the US Stock Exchange Supervisory Authority Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Blackrock applied for a Spot BTC Exchange Traded Fund (ETF). It should be noted that Grayscale has filed a complaint against the SEC because she rejected her application for conversion from GBTC into a spot bitcoin ETF.
In addition to Blackrock, other traditional financial companies such as Fidelity, Vaneck, 21shares and Wisdomtree have also applied for a Spot-BTC ETF. This underlines the growing interest in Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies on the part of great institutional investors.
