Fraudsters spread fake Reddit-Nfts on OpenSea

OpenSea has taken a number of fake Reddit NFTs from the list that is supposed to take advantage of the hype, which was triggered by the advancement of the social media giant in web3.

The popularity of the official NFT Collectible Avatars from Reddit has risen dramatically this month, with the daily transaction volume on Sunday set up a new record of over $ 2 million.

But the platform has so far had at least one fraudulent NFT collection-which apparently has been saved by right-clicking-with the legitimate tokens that can be viewed by Reddit's official OpenSea collectors page for at least 24 hours, two sources familiar with the matter.

The fraudster used the Genesis Airdrop of the NFT platform RPLANET on October 25th and was able to use Reddit's Openea page with its own flood thrown Erc-721-token.

The tokens appeared under Reddits Collected Tab, where they may have been confused with the originals, the blockchain analysis company Sororn told Blockworks.

The "Collected" tab on OpenSea reflects the NFTs, which has bought a certain wallet or received it as a transfer. The "Created" tab shows NFTS, which were created or shaped by a certain account.

Serorn said that they might have identified the main character of the fraudster Address , which contained approximately $ 4,500 of various assets. The company could not clearly link the address.

A total number for the stolen amount is unknown. A spokesman for OpenSea refused to comment.

OpenSea users can either search Reddit NFTS via the official and verified “RedditCollectibleavatars” page or a separate “Explore Reddit Collectible Avatars” portal.

In the collected tab, there were copies of the originals.

OpenSea decorated the assets shortly after block works had registered.

Blockworks later confirmed that the NFTS listed on the collected "RedditCollectibleavatars" tab had no blue checkmarks next to their names, in contrast to those who were filled out on the tab.

"Our guidelines forbid theft, fraud and plagiarism that we regularly enforce by deleting articles and in some cases block accounts," an Openea spokesman Blockworks had previously announced by email.

According to a source, however, a fraudster could sneak past OpenSea's "copymint" system.
