AT&T extends deadline for compensation: Up to €7,500 is available!
AT&T has extended the deadline to file claims for a $177 million settlement. The decision to extend the deadline to December 18, 2025 was made by a court and offers affected customers the opportunity to seek compensation for data breaches that occurred in both 2019 and 2024. This reports Daily Hodl.
The settlement requires AT&T to pay $149 million for a data breach in 2019 and $28 million for an incident in 2024. The breach, which occurred in 2019, affected 73 million customers and resulted in the exposure of sensitive data, including Social Security numbers. The 2024 data breach, on the other hand, affected 109 million customers, with call recordings from 2022 stolen via Snowflake.
Details about compensation claims
Affected customers can claim compensation of up to $7,500. Payments of up to $5,000 are available for proven losses from the 2019 breach and up to $2,500 for the 2024 breach. Without proof of losses, compensation will be distributed proportionately. Customers affected by both incidents can file claims arising from both cases.
Payouts are expected to begin in early 2026 following final approval in January. Rebookings or objections to the settlement can be submitted until November 17, 2025. It is important to note that AT&T did not admit any wrongdoing in this settlement, but the settlement resolves the consolidated 2024 claims.
To claim compensation, eligible users must submit their claims online at telecomdatasettlement.com or submit by post. The extension of the deadline was seen as a step to ensure that as many affected customers as possible have the opportunity to receive appropriate compensation.
