Did you know? Charles Hoskinson runs a private jet business and worked for Metallica
In the middle of heat waves, several years of drought and devastating floods, environmentalists have shifted their focus on celebrities that use private jets causing emission. The latest top-class person from the crypto industry who made it onto the list is Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson.
According to Climate Jets, a website that persecutes the estimated emissions of private jets owned by the super rich, the manager's private jet is reportedly one of the 15 largest polluters in the United States. It claims that Hoskinson's private aircraft emissions "exceed the full CO2 emissions of 186 average Americans".
Hoskinson's comments on private jets
After he had withstanded violent public criticism, Hoskinson said that the website "overrated" the use of his private jet. The managing director said that if he does not use the plane, he employs a company who finds customers who use it regularly and borrowed it to some of the big names, including the rock band Metallica and the Hollywood heavyweight Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
"I have a fairly wide range of customers who use it (planes) from Metallica to the Rock and others. It is also a great network tool, because they can imagine that these are the people with whom they would like to do business."
In 2022, the Cardano founder's aircraft is said to have carried out 353 flights with 296,930 Gallons (more than 1.12,000 liters) kerosene and emitted 2,895.06 tons of carbon dioxide and thus airplanes such as Mark Zuckerberg, Mark Cuban, Jay-Z, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Kim Kardashian, Steven Spielberg, by just a few call.
The frequent destinations of the jet were primarily Denver, Los Angeles and New York City as well as international routes such as Canada, the United Arab Emirates, Poland, Israel and South Korea.
Bill Gates' frequent use of private jets
shots on Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates were also fired, which is a convinced advocate of the fight against climate change and founded a leading investment company for air conditioning technology called "Breakthough Energy Ventures". The billionaire also often uses private jets, which raises questions about the authenticity of his activism.
Interestingly, Gates is the 13th largest environmental pollution in the United States. His three private jets were in the air for over 657 hours, covered a distance of 528,787 kilometers and emitted 3,058.71 tons of carbon dioxide. Referring to the statistics, Hoskinson said:"There is a great movement, the ESG movement that is committed to reducing CO2 emissions. The great irony is that if you look at the aggregated list, the vast majority of the ESG movement, for example Bill Gates and other northern."
