From Super Airdrop hunters to malicious actors
The excited token-airdrop from Arbitrum shook the crypto room when the on-chain activity of the popular Layer 2 solution increased to an unprecedented level. With the introduction of the Arb-token, Arbitrum finally turned into a DAO.
In the meantime, the hunters have collected an impressive amount of Arb-token. In the first hour alone, over 42 million Arb-token were claimed. New data found two "super airdrop hunters", which received 1.4 million ARW worth around $ 1.92 million and $ 933,375 with $ 1.28 million. Together, the two “hunters” acquired around $ 3.3 million addresses over 1,496 addresses.
- according to blockchain analysis Lookonchain, the 1.4 million has, added the entire amount of the decentralized stock exchange to uniswap liquidity.
- The madness behind the Airdrop has paved the way for bad players in space to get the tokens.
- Founder and CEO of the growth platform Hashscan NFT, Alexander Tkachenko, revealed that a hacker has earned over $ 500,000 by claiming the Arb-Airdrop with compromised vanity addresses. Interestingly, all of these addresses were created with profanity, a tool for activating so-called "vanity addresses", which are user-defined crypto money exchanges with identifiable names or numbers. Last year, 1inch participants found that the process used by Profanity to generate the addresses is susceptible to attacks, and considered this to be unsafe.
- In a further case, the Arkham crypto-intelligence platform in the expectation of the Airdrop discovered a wallet of more than 2,400 allegedly compromised toll pockets. It was found that the hacker had sent small amounts of ETH a few hours before the Airdrop to pay for petrol to claim ARB.
