Telegram integrates Tether (USDT) payments in the tron network
Telegram has added a new function that enables users to send each other the largest stable coin in the world, Tether (USDT).
usdt runs on several blockchains, but for the time being, Telegram has only added support for the stablecoin to Tron.
- According to an update dated March 22, USDT-TRON-TRC20-was added to the wallet function of the popular messaging app, which expands your payment options for buying and selling crypto.
- usdt is the third crypto asset alongside Bitcoin and the Open Network Token as assets that were supported by the wallet (sound).
- The announcement of Telegram was:
"You can now buy, Exchange and make P2P trades with Tether USDT (TRC20). You can send us to your friends directly even without transaction fees."
- With the new integration, Telegram competes with other social media platforms such as Twitter, which have already added support for drinking money in Bitcoin and Ethereum in 2021, in addition to their partnership with stripe to add payment functions via USDC stable.
- Telegram's attempt with crypto goes back to 2018 when its Telegram Open Network (sound) started, which was originally designed as a proof-of-stake (POS) blockchain platform with a native token, with the aim of generating payments in his chat app. However, the start was not smooth.
- The app founder and CEO of the app-Pavel Durov-previously said that he had to put numerous fraudsters and fake accounts on Twitter.
- Afterwards, the Telegram project was given up only two years later, after the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) had considered the first to offer Coin illegally, which forced Telegram to withdraw from the sound project and to hand over it to the sound.
- Last November, DWF Labs announced a promise to provide $ 10 million to support the sound ecosystem.
