A Cameroonian FinTech start-up, Ejara, has collected $ 2 million to use the use of crypto and investment services in French-speaking African countries. Coinshares Ventures and Anthemis Group led the financing round in which Mercy Corps Ventures, Lateral Capital, Lofty Inc Capital and Netx Fund have joined them.
Use of crypto to protect savings in Francophone Africa
According to a report, the start-up, founded by the Cameroonian Nelly Chatue-Diop, “compensates for these competitive conditions for the average French-speaking African so that he can only invest $ 9 ($ 5,000)”. In addition, Chatue-Diop hopes that this re-establishment also found the non-elites from this region the painful experience of loss how their family can save and avoid.
"I was very young and we were part of the middle class. Overnight all of our savings and the consequences were that the government could not even pay salaries. So at this tender age I asked myself how we managed to do everything right and still land in this zone.
As mentioned in the report, it was the family experiences of Chatue-Diop that motivated them to learn something about blockchain and finally work with Baptiste Andrieux to found Ejara in Cameroon.
According to the founder, Ejara, which already has around 8,000 users from the six French -speaking African countries, "to diversify to provide other assets, including shares, stocks and raw materials".
