Russians who are aware of Bitcoin are shared due to the proposed crypto ban, survey results-regulation

A new survey has shown that Russians who have heard of cryptocurrency are deeply split in their opinions about the recently proposed ban on operations with digital assets. A third of the respondents support the central bank's proposal, while an equal number of survey participants is.

In the middle of the ongoing discussions about the future of digital currencies, the Russian Research Center for Public Certain (VTSiom) publishes a new study that measures the attitude of Russian citizens to crypto-assets and operations with them. It comes when officials try to put the country's crypto room in order not without disagreements between the supervisory authorities.

According to the survey, the majority of the Russians (64 %) have already heard of Bitcoin and 17 % have good knowledge of the cryptocurrency, an increase of four percentage points compared to the data of a survey from 2017. The proportion of those who know nothing has shrunk by 11 points to only 19 %.

According to the Russian Association for Crypto Economics, Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain ( racib ) have over 17 million Russians for cryptocurrencies. Russian citizens have suggested Prohibition of a number of crypto activities, including the edition, use, trade and the digging of coins such as Bitcoin. The ban was towards other institutions and the government has reported a timetable for regulation and not created for the ban on crypto operations.

A majority of boys, 54 % of 18 to 24 year olds and half of the 25- to 34-year-olds, contradict the currency authority. At the other end of the spectrum there are over 60 year olds, of whom only 15 % are against the ban.

Despite the annual volume of crypto transactions made by Russians, it is enough $ 5 billion , according to the Bank of Russia's own estimates, 81 % of those surveyed do not want to acquire cryptocurrency, compared to 16 %, the information to buy them. Bitcoin still considers over half of the study participants (56 %) to be a bad investment, while every fifth respondent (22 %) considers Bitcoin to be a good option.

The majority of the Russians who are familiar with Bitcoin admitted that neither they nor the people close to them have ever bought cryptocurrency (74 %). A fifth of the respondents stated that their relatives or friends had bought Bitcoin (21 %) and 4 % bought cryptos themselves. At the same time, more Russians (38 %) believe that a crypto hiding place is more difficult to steal, while those who consider Fiat stocks to be safer.
