Malware intelligence software rewards users with tokens for the joint use of data

  • Large companies are currently the only ones that collect such data

The cybersecurity marketplace polyswarm has launched a browser plug-in that enables its customers to earn its native token nectar (NCT) while surfing on the Internet.

Polyswarm uses crowdsourcing to identify threats to its corporate customers such as Microsoft, Verizon and Ebay. The new plug-in enables polyswarm to access customer data that can then help the company develop tools to prevent malware attacks.

Steve Bassi, founder and CEO of polyswarm, told Blockworks that he had created the marketplace for cyber security for himself and other security experts to "achieve more income from detection tools that remained unused before".

"My team and I continue to develop individual recognition tools for engagements ... but they were simply on a shelf after the commitment," he said.

"We have developed polysm so that these tools and many others that were developed by security experts around the world would be useful to recognize the same malware from the same bad guys, but accessible to a wider audience and in one place," said Bassi.

The latest expansion Nectarnet calls on users to bring their unique points of view on the Internet and add to the 500,000 to 1 million malware samples that have already produced polyswarm. The plugin can be installed on Chrome, Brave and Firefox and users have to register it in their polyswarm account.

According to Bassi, the data collected can help determine which malignant domain name with an IP address in a certain part of the world and paired at a certain point in time.

"This information can say much more about a certain malware infection and the attack infrastructure behind it," he said. "By transmitting these DNS data while a Nectaret user surfs, they serve as an internet-wide neighborhood guard."

Large companies such as comcast, Cloudfare and Google are the only companies that currently collect this type of data.

"Users are not paid for their data, even if they are helpful," said Bassi.

"Nectarnet rewards users to contribute to the contributions of this data and increase the reward when it is connected to malware information that our customers are really interested in."

At the time of the writing of this article, the NCT token from polyswarm currently has a market capitalization of about $ 28 Mill target = "_ blank" href = "https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/polyswarm"> 0.018 $ .

"The users should be thrilled because it is really the first time that we pay normal internet users for their data relevant to cyber security," said Bassi. "Access to passive DNS data records is becoming increasingly difficult because the large companies centralize them and/or make them too expensive for small and medium-sized cybersecurity teams."
