According to federal deputy Aureo Ribeiro, Bitcoin will soon become a currency in Brazil -

aureo Ribeiro, a Federal MP in Brazil, said in an interview with local media that Bitcoin could soon become a recognized currency in Brazil. The politician explained that Brazilians may be able to buy houses, cars and even fast food from McDonald’s with cryptocurrency in the near future. Laws 2.303/15, which regulates cryptocurrencies, could approve the legal use of assets similar to in El Salvador.

According to Bitcoin, Bitcoin could become a regulated currency for payments in Brazil in the near future Federal MP. Ribeiro explained that with the future approval of the draft law 2.303/15, which regulates cryptocurrencies, crypto owners would open up new uses, such as buying houses, cars and even food in restaurants like McDonald’s.

These comments are the result of the approval of the so-called Brazilian "Bitcoin Act" for submission in the plenary of the Chamber of Deputy after it has been stuck in development for years. Ribeiro also explained that due to its design, this law could be a point of reference for other countries who want to regulate digital assets and said his text was "innovative". In this sense, Ribeiro emphasized:

We debated there for a few years to get to a text that recognizes this asset ... which is regulated by a government agency because we will work with the central bank and the CVM, depending on how this asset is recognized, e.g. B. Real estate value or currency of daily use.

Control of ponzi systems

ribeiro is also very positive about the expected effect of this law to protect citizens against ponzi systems in this sector. Brazilians were particularly hard hit by these frauds, since the authorities had to act against the supporters of this alleged Ponzi systems several times this year. However, cryptocurrencies in Brazil are still a gray area, and the authorities only have limited opportunities to control these companies. Ribeiro emphasized that the government with this law:

separate the chaff from wheat, create regulations so that you can act, know where you shop, know who you have to do with.

Finally, the Federal MP said that the law was supported by the government and that it was also discussed with Arthur Lira, the President of the Chamber of Deputy. For Ribeiro it is only a matter of time before the law is approved.
