FT readers answers: cryptocurrency in the classroom

as part of the Financial Literacy and Inclusion Campaign The FT wrote Lucy Kellaway about a trend in British schools - buying and selling young people.

In her weekend FT article "Crypto in the classroom: Lucy Kellaway on the Kids' New Craze", she tells of the increasing enthusiasm of the students when they talk about such investments. A student briefed that he "earned" 100 pounds with his possession in one day.

Kelaway indicates that schools generally do not involve the students when it comes to learning something about money. The lessons must be correctly designed to bypass the behavioral prejudices that make children (and adults) so badly with money, she says.

The article triggered a debate among readers to help school children understand money. The suggestions ranged from fantasy portfolios to the encouragement of children to play part-time jobs to play such as Minecraft to awaken the interest of young people in finance.

Many commentators shared teachings from their own experiences and how they teach their own children about money.
