The person behind the event is Jodee Rich, who launched NFT.NYC in 2019 as part of a joint effort with the top marketplace for collector's pieces OpenSea. Rich, who is currently wearing the event producer cap, is a long-standing innovator who wants to expand the practical and general use of the technology in order to promote trading and strengthen global brands.
Blockworks interviewed Jodee Rich, Executive Producer from NFT.NYC:
block works: What did your interest in NFTS aroused before they became popular?
Jodee : In 2018, Devin Finzer (co -founder of OpenSea) and I at lunch in the bar Pitti in New York and we both wondered how we could communicate something with initials like NFT. We decided on a conference, turned to the community and ended up talking about 100 speakers. At one point, in February 2019, there were more speakers than participants. We always wanted to be very community -oriented and bring as many pioneers onto the stage as possible. That's why we have 1,500 people on stage this year. Last year there were 600, the year before, I think there were 300 and the year before there were 100.
block works: Which NFT projects are particularly noticeable?
Jodee : I like what Ticketmaster does. They give people live stubs, memory stubs-things to remember the events that people go to. A number of brands such as PWC, SAP and coach publish collectible NFTS. I think the idea that NFTs also serve as awards is really funny. We are awarded at the NFT.NYC Award Night awards, both physically and in NFT form.
block works: How do you see the future development of NFTS?
Jodee : My friend Jehan Chu (managing partner of the blockchain venture capital company Kinetic) and I will soon talk about "Dynamic Compositing" from NFTS on the stage of Radio City, which sounds like a bite. But I'm really interested. I think in the next phase for NFTS grow, develop and change with external entries. An NFT does not have to be static. It doesn't always have to look like this. It can contain metadata. Compositing means overlapping different images to NFTs while they develop and passed on by one person to the other.

My personal favorite NFT Evolution would be identity. I look forward to the day when my NFT controls access to advertising and social networks for me. I am looking forward to the day when Google NFTS indicates correctly, so that when you look for me, people see all the NFTs that I have touched and in which I am interested. I think NFTS become a way to express our brand identity and our personal identity.
block works: Do you have tips for NFT buyers who only want to trade your collector's items?
Jodee : I don't think so much about that. For me it is the least interesting part of the ecosystem. We do not allow people to come and talk about crypto because we don't want that. We want a guise of thought around NFTS. The trading part of it is probably the least interesting. This year we have a stage where people come and talk about their drops, and we will help you by puting them on stage.
block works: is it still early?
Jodee : If you say that there are 1,000 days in the life of NFTS, I think that we are really only on the first day. We're just beginning. The good news is that your taxi driver probably knows what an NFT is.
