BlackRock's Crypto Strategy: Solana and Bitcoin ETPs Pave the Way for Institutional Trust in the Crypto Market

BlackRock's crypto moves boost confidence in the market

BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, is bolstering its crypto strategy with a number of significant developments. The firm has expanded its tokenized money market fund BUIDL onto the Solana blockchain while also launching a physical Bitcoin ETP (Exchange Traded Product) for the European market. These moves demonstrate institutional trust in blockchain infrastructure, particularly Solana, and have led to a noticeable increase in SOL's price.

BlackRock's Bitcoin ETP for Europe: Access to Bitcoin for traditional investors

At the same time, BlackRock introduced the iShares Bitcoin ETP (IB1T) for Europe. This gives traditional investors the opportunity to trade Bitcoin via regulated exchanges such as Deutsche Börse and Euronext. Bitcoin custody is handled by Coinbase, and the ETP is based in Switzerland, making it tax efficient and convenient.

Highlights of the ETP:

  1. Einführungsgebühr von 0,15%, später steigend auf 0,25%
  2. Verknüpfung der klassischen Finanzwelt mit dem Kryptomarkt
  3. Nachfolger des äußerst erfolgreichen US Bitcoin ETFs von BlackRock (über 50 Milliarden Dollar verwaltetes Vermögen)

With around 25 million crypto users in Europe and increasing demand for regulated access, the launch of the BTC ETP marks another big step towards legitimizing digital assets.

BUIDL Fund now on Solana: Importance of the expansion

The BUIDL Fund originally launched on Ethereum in March 2024 and offers investors access to tokenized U.S. Treasury securities as well as short-term money market securities. The expansion to Solana is a critical step towards integrating real-world assets (RWAs) with faster and cheaper blockchain technology.

Important points:

Carlos Domingo, CEO of Securitize (BlackRock's partner), emphasized that the integration of Solana is an ideal fit for the growing demand for tokenized assets. This move positions Solana as a serious player in the institutional finance space.

Solana price boom thanks to RWAs and institutional capital

Following the announcement of the BUIDL integration, Solana's price rose by over15% within 24 hoursoutperforming most of the top 10 coins. The price increase was triggered by the following factors:

  1. Erhöhter Nutzen und Glaubwürdigkeit durch BlackRocks Integration
  2. Wachsende Kapitalzuflüsse aus dem institutionellen Bereich
  3. Positiver Stimmungswechsel auf dem Markt – Solana wird zur führenden Blockchain für tokenisierte RWAs

Analysts expect further upside potential, especially as more institutions use Solana for scalable tokenizations.

Fidelity's Spot Solana ETF Application Gives SOL Additional Boost

Fidelity Investments has officially filed an application for a spot ETF for Solana (SOL) with the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE). This makes Fidelity one of the first major financial institutions to launch a Solana product in the US, subject to SEC approval.

Fidelity already manages spot ETFs for Bitcoin and Ethereum, giving the application additional institutional credibility. This move shows that institutional focus is increasingly on alternative crypto assets like Solana.

The news further strengthened the Solana price. Within a week, SOL rose by 16% to over $145. Analysts expect that Solana could target $300 if the ETF is approved.

Solana heading into a new era through institutional acceptance

BlackRock's strategic moves – the launch of the BUIDL Fund on Solana and the Bitcoin ETP for Europe – mark a crucial turning point for institutional crypto adoption. Combined with Fidelity's ETF application, it creates a real game-changer scenario for Solana. These developments illustrate that trust in Solana's technology is growing rapidly, while the need for tokenized RWAs is constantly increasing.
