Optimism released the details of its upcoming Superchain Upgrade 16a today, October 10, 2025. This upgrade represents an important step in the development of the platform and aims to provide security improvements as well as improved flexibility for developers. In a press release from Crypto News It was announced that testnet deployment for the upgrade will begin on September 22, 2025.
The mainnet launch is scheduled for October 2, 2025, pending final approval from the Optimism Collective. These changes will not affect end-user behavior or withdrawal proofs.
Key features of Upgrade 16a
