Digital Currency Group closes Tradeblock unit, trade execution service
The Digital Currency Group-the cryptocurrency company founded and led by Barry Silver-announced today that it will close its trade handling and prime brokerage unit-Tradeblock.
- According to a Bloomberg report, the unit will be effective from May 31st.
- Coindesk, the news medium belonging to DCG, also revealed a statement from DCG:
Due to the current economic situation and the ongoing crypto winter as well as the challenging regulatory environment for digital assets in the United States, we have decided to stop the area of institutional trading platform, known as Tradeblock, with effect from May 31, 2023

Interestingly, Tradeblock was taken over by the media company itself in 2020, but later outlined as an independent company. The details of the takeover were not announced.
