China's digital Yuan Wallet app now in iOS and Android app stores-regulation

China's central bank has released her digital wallet app before the Winter Olympics. The wallet app for the digital Yuan, also known as E-Cny, can now be downloaded into the country's iOS and Android app stores.

China's central bank, the People’s Bank of China (PBOC), has published a pilot version of your wallet application for the digital currency of the Central Bank (CBDC).

The Wallet app for e-Cny developed by the PBOC Digital Currency Research Institute, also known as Digital Currency Electronic Payment (DCEP), is now available for download in the iOS and Android app stores in China. So far, the wallet app was only downloaded from private links. The use of the app is free.

mu Changchun, head of the PBOC Digital Currency Research Institute, said in November that around 140 million Chinese would have opened a digital Yuan account, with the cumulative transactions since the introduction of 62 billion yuan ($ 9.7 billion).

The Governor of the PBOC, YI Gang, said in November that China will continue to promote the development of its digital central bank currency and improve their design and use, including improving interoperability with existing payment tools.

In the digital Yuan Wallet app, there is a note that the app is in a pilot phase for research and development. According to SCMP, the registration of new users are limited to the areas in which digital Yuan tests are carried out, and via large banks that offer e-Cny services. The test regions are Shenzhen, Suzhou, Xiongan, Chengdu, Shanghai, Hainan, Changsha, Xian, Qingdao, Dalian and venues of this year's Winter Olympics, which are organized by Beijing.
