Bug Bounty doubled to $ 500,000
With the long-awaited Shapella upgrade just around the corner, the Ethereum Foundation increased the bug bounty.
According to the recent call of the developers, the reward was updated as part of the last minute test efforts.

In the 105th all Core Developers Consensus (ACDC) Call, the security researcher of the Ethereum Foundation-Fredrik Svantes-revealed that the maximum bug premium for the identification of a weakness in Shanghai/Capella-upgrade was doubled from $ 500,000 to $ 500,000.
This is not the first time that the organization has started its bug bounty program. The Ethereum Foundation announced that the payments before the transfer of the blockchain to the Proof-of-Stake for all "Merge-related Bounties for Vulnerabilities" for White, which test the network to increase four times.
The bug bounty program offers individuals or groups that find security gaps or weaknesses in the systems of an organization. In the case of Ethereum, the rewards depend on the severity, which is calculated based on the OWASP risk assessment model based on the effect on the network and the probability.
The bug bounty program includes the solidity of protocols (the blockchain consensus model, the wire and peer-to-peer protocols, proof of stake, etc.) and the protocol/implementation conformity for network security and consensus integrity. It also includes classic client security and the security of cryptographic primitive.
On the other hand, goals such as infrastructure (including websites, DNS, email, etc.) and ERC20 contract errors are not part of the premium scope.Ethereum Shapella upgrade
The last dress rehearsal for the Shapella upgrade was carried out on March 14th in the Goerli test network and prepared the prerequisites for the activation of stacked ETH withdrawals in the Mainset.
The Goerli test network initially recorded a low network participation after its upgrade. During this time, fewer than two thirds of the validators had updated their software clients in good time, while the majority of the testnet validators updated their nodes after the update. Shapella was completed the next day and made it possible for the Goerli users to withdraw stubborn ETH from the Beacon of the test network Chain.
The preparations for the upgrade-which is also known as Shanghai capella-are in full swing and are to go live on April 12 in block number 6.209,536. While the main focus is focused on Ethereum Improvement Proposal-4895, it will also include other improvements that aim to optimize the gas costs for certain activities.
In addition, the developers encouraged all node operators in the Ethereum network to update their nodes before upgrading.
