US government transfers Bitcoin worth over $ 300 million in connection with Silk Road Contribution

The latest publication in the Block Explorer recently attracted the attention of the cryptocurrency market. Two wallets that belong to the Ministry of Justice and are associated with the confiscation of cryptocurrencies related to Silk Road have transferred Bitcoin worth around $ 301 million in three separate transactions this morning (July 12, 2023).

These transactions are remarkable because similar events have led to a decline in the Bitcoin price in the past. In fact, the cryptom market collapsed in March after the same wallet Bitcoin was worth $ 1 billion.

It is important to mention that the government continues to sell Bitcoin, which it had confiscated in November after James Zhong was arrested. Zhong is accused of manipulated transactions on the Darknet market Silk Road in 2012. In March, the Ministry of Justice already sold 9,861 Bitcoin for $ 216 million.

The latest transactions are carried out at a time when the authorities still carry out an investigation into the Silk Road scandal. The government also plans to liquidate the confiscated assets in order to avoid possible disorders in the crypto industry. It remains to be seen whether these transactions can provide the authorities new evidence or information.

As far as the Bitcoin price is concerned, the cryptocurrency prices continue to move sideways. Since the latest transactions, the Bitcoin price has fallen to $ 30,480. This has also led to downward movements in the old coin area, with global crypto market capitalization falling 0.17% to $ 1.19 trillion within 24 hours.

It remains exciting to observe how the cryptocurrency market will develop on the basis of these events. The combination of official investigations and large transactions of the Ministry of Justice can affect the market and possibly bring new price developments and volatility in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
