European citizens reject crypto regulation imposed by the EU-Bitcoin News

According to a current survey, most European citizens reject the idea of a regulatory regime for cryptocurrencies, which the European Union (EU) imposes its Member States. Most of the citizens surveyed tend to regulate cryptocurrencies in every country, compared to 25 %that agree to a regulation imposed by the EU. However, most of the citizens surveyed admitted that they still don't know much about cryptocurrencies from the start.

Europeans reject EU crypto laws and prefer local proposals

according to a recently published survey ordered from Euronews. The survey, which was carried out by Redfield & Wilton Strategies, a global consulting company, interviewed more than 31,000 citizens in 12 states of the European Block: Germany, Estonia, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Spain.

The survey showed that most Europeans support laws locally instead of a regulations imposed by the European Union. Citizens from Greece (51%), Italy (47%), Estonia (46%), Netherlands (41%), Germany (40%), Latvia (39%) and France (37%) stated that they would prefer their own government to regulate cryptocurrencies.

In addition, a surprisingly high number of citizens would prefer the issue of local cryptocurrencies instead of a digital euro, which shows that more and more European inefficiencies are attributable to the integration of the European Union. Dimitar Lilkov from Wilfried Martens Center for European Studies in Brussels said:

A large part of the population is still convinced that the crisis was caused by poor decisions at EU level and not by serious defects in the national banking sector.

However, the affiliation of every country to the EU prevents this from becoming a reality. Italians (41 %), Greeks (40 %), Esten (39 %) and Spaniard (37 %) recorded the highest support for the initiative. Likov explained:

countries of the euro zone that want to use a digital currency would be linked to a potential digital euro that is conducted by the ECB in coordination with the banking system of the euro zone.

For him, every country that spends its own digital central bank currency would have to be Euro will happen in the future.

cryptocurrency still unknown

The survey also showed that most European citizens have just heard "a little" about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. This shows that despite the recent boom of crypto assets, due to a bull season, there is still room for people to find out more about cryptocurrencies and their suggestions. In fact, the lack of knowledge about cryptocurrencies again appears as the main reason why Europeans avoided buying crypto assets.
